Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons are unique. They have received advanced training in anesthesia during residency to provide patients with safe and effective outpatient anesthesia. Their anesthesia training is performed in a hospital setting and includes everything from starting an IV to General Anesthesia with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). All our surgeons maintain current certification for BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACL.

Anesthesia / IV Sedation
On the day of consultation, our surgeons will discuss the specifics of your case including a review of your medical history and the need for and risks of administering anesthesia. The anesthetic may vary from local anesthesia, intramuscular, intravenous sedation and general anesthetic in the office. After the course of anesthesia is decided you will be given specific instructions either by the doctor or the trained office staff.
Once the anesthetic choice has been selected it is important to follow the pre-op instructions the day before and day of surgery.
If you still have any questions, please remember that at your consultation appointment the doctor will review all necessary details with specificity. You also can ask any questions on the day of surgery.
